Cheap surveillance cameras are in fashion, especially those intended for indoor use. You may know them as cameras designed to watch the baby if he sleeps in another room but their use goes beyond and many use them as a surveillance system for their home. Are you thinking of buying one? We tried the Mbuynow 1080P HD WiFi Indoor, on sale at Amazon for a very cheap price, and we want to tell you our impressions in this review.
Unboxing and design of the Mbuynow surveillance camera
The box of this cheap surveillance camera contains the camera itself, USB cable, wall adapter, manuals and screws.
The design is very simple, white with the camera area in black, under which hides the power button and memory card slot. At the bottom back we have the LAN and microUSB connector, while at the bottom is the hole to screw the camera to another surface. Finally, in the back, we have an antenna to improve connectivity in case we transmit via WiFi.
To the hand it is noticed that it is a modest camera, humble plastic materials but sufficient for the price of the device.
Configuring our camera Mbuynow 1080P WiFi Indoor
The configuration, if it goes well to the first one, is simpler than it may seem, although in our case it gave us some problems and we had to try several times. In addition, after being already configured it was unpaired alone and we had to do the whole process again. However, now it works correctly and stably, so it's an anecdote to keep in mind. Don't despair if it doesn't come out in the first place.
What we have to do is connect the camera to an electrical outlet, turn it on and download the app from our smartphone. We leave below the download link, although in the manuals you will find the QR code:
We will have to register indicating the typical data (name, email, password, country ...), confirm our email account and validate the user. Now, we add a new camera and we select if we will connect it via WiFi or by LAN. In our case, we have done it by WiFi. We enter the id and password of our network. The next step is that the mobile recognizes the camera. How? It will emit a series of beeps (the mobile) and after about 1 minute you will hear a "ding dong" in the camera. When this happens, mark it on your mobile and you're done.
What is the surveillance camera for? How does it work?
Now all you have to do is choose the place where you want to place it: the baby's room if you are going to use it for this purpose, the foyer if you want it to point to the door, and so on. Keep in mind that the camera can move, so you'll need a relatively large surface area, and that it needs power, something that I think is a failure because it limits enough where to place it, so remember to have a plug nearby.
The management is done from the app. It's very simple to use and has a number of functions, from seeing your house live (wherever you are) to make recordings and save them on the memory card, take pictures, make a 360 º sweep, activate the microphone to talk through the cam (high, thief!) and of course move the camera from the mobile to control the point you want, being able to see the 360 º of the room where we have placed the camera. I advise you to make tests of vision to choose which is the optimal place.
In addition, an option that I find super practical of this Mbuynow 1080P HD is that we can share from the app the vision of the camera, provided that the other person also has configured the camera previously. We can also set alarms for motion detection, so that they warn us on the mobile if the camera detects an anomaly that we have previously established. This is something very practical if we want to not worry, because obviously we are not going to spend all day looking at the camera, but we want to be warned in case something happens in our house.
Its handling, once we have it configured, is extremely simple and practical, for the price it has works perfectly, whether we are at home or if we see the image from another place.
Regarding the image quality, keep in mind that it is HD and the truth is that it is not a spectacular image, generates some noise, but we have no complaint in this regard. In addition, it has night vision, which you'll probably get a lot out of. We can also zoom and see in more detail a specific point of the image.
